![]() ![]() ![]() I have recently taken lots of analog pictures (might want to print one or another), plus I want to digitize tons of old negatives from my parents. But now that I have a Full Frame camera, it feels kind of bad to not use it to its full capacity because of a bad lens choice It's just that the former is often cheaper, smaller, and lighter, if available. When you have an APS-C camera, it doesn't matter whether the lens is designed for APS-C or full frame. The image in the center of the lens is automatically cropped to the APS-C size, so there are no dark corners surrounding the picture to cause vignetting. If you took two 35mm lenses, one made for full frame and the other made for APS-C, and mounted them on APS-C cameras, they would produce the same field of view. I wouldn’t care, if I only had an APS-C camera. Can I Use a Full Frame E-Mount Lens (aka FE Lens) on a Camera with an APS-C Size Sensor Yes, you can use an FE lens on an E-Mount camera that has an APS-C sensor. ![]() How much better will the quality be if I get a Full Frame lens? Since the size of the image capture area of APS-C is reduced from 35mm Full Frame format, then that means that the normal lens focal length is also reduced. Will it be OK to “scan” my negatives in crop mode? Or does this have disadvantages? Now I am not sure what to do: Should I keep the 7Artisans lens and digitize my negatives in crop mode? Or should I send it back and get a Full Frame lens (or an old lens with an adapter)? You can also connect full-frame lenses to Canon APS-C, Nikon DX, and Sony Alpha bodies, but when you take a picture, the camera will crop out a smaller. a 50 crop (area) equates to 1 stop more DoF, 1. All of these effects are roughly equivalent to the crop factor. And the smaller sensor is not using the lens's full image circle, resulting in a cropped field of view. FOR EXAMPLE: If I were to take the sony full frame e-mount 50mm f1.8 lens and put it on my A6000 body, would it become A 75mm f2. The aperture value of a FF lens does not change the smaller sensor just doesn't make use of all the light (crops it away). I hadn’t realized, that this is an APS-C lens! 1 Brajesh wrote: Hi guys, Since the e-mount is physically the same on the A6xxx and the A7, I was wondering if the crop factors still apply if I use an e-mount full frame lens on my A6000 APS-C body. I saw a video about 7Artisans 60mm Macro Lens and bought it for digitizing negatives. ![]()
